MIT Challenge

The MIT Challenge is a competition for teams of four year 11 or 12 mathematics students. An industry representative (“your client”) will present a real world problem for your team (“the consultants”) to establish a solution approach within 2.5 hours.

Teams will prepare a written report of their proposed solution. A representative from the top ranked teams will give an oral presentation to a panel of judges.

Computers with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel software will be available, although if you have a laptop feel free to bring it along. Printers, overhead projector pens and transparencies will be provided.

Prizes and certificates will be awarded to the top 4 teams according to the quality of the proposed written solution and oral presentation.

1st Prize: $800 per team
2nd Prize: $600 per team
3rd Prize: $400 per team
