New Scholarship for Honours Students

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics will be offering up to three Honours scholarships valued at $7,000 each to students who intend to enrol in the Bachelor of Science Honours Degree specialising in Statistics, and who undertake an Honours project in one of these areas:

· Applied Statistics
· Probability
· Stochastic Processes
· Operations Research

The Scholarships will be funded from the estate of Dr. Florence Marjorie Belz and have been established to honour the memory of her late husband, Professor Maurice Belz, the first Professor of Statistics at the University of Melbourne.

These prestigious scholarships are aimed at students with the potential to undertake further study in Statistics and will give them the opportunity to work with internationally recognised researchers.

The awards will be made on academic merit determined on the third year University of Melbourne Science Faculty Honours Score or equivalent.
