Information for Prospective Master of Science Students

The Master of Science degree MSc is an internationally recognized and globally competitive graduate coursework degree leading to a professional career in the discipline of your choice and is the key pathway to Research in that discipline, including Research Higher degrees such as a PhD. CSP places are available and it is classified as a Professional Entry program for the purposes of Youth Allowance/Austudy so students can apply for assistance through Centrelink. Substantial ($10,000 over two years) Bursaries are available to a large number of students based upon merit.

The program in Mathematics and Statistics provides an innovative curriculum with four specialisations: Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Mathematical Physics, Discrete Mathematics and Operations Research, and Statistics and Stochastic Processes. It supercedes the Honours program, and includes a research project as well as coursework subjects. It is in the process of being professionally accredited as a program for both Mathematics and Statistics. It aligns with both European and North American models of graduate pathways. It is simply a premier course of advanced study in the Mathematical Sciences in Australia.
