Raychaudhuri's equation and singularity analysis of second order ODEs
by Professor Geoff Prince
Abstract: Raychaudhuri's equation is a tool used in the analysis of geodesic congruences. However, it has an analogue for systems of second order ODEs which can be used, for example, to design congruences of curves which collapse at a given place and time. This talk will give a glimpse of the differential geometry of ODEs and present some accessible examples. It is pitched at a general audience.
