Abstract: Gromov-Witten theory is about counting the number of maps
from algebraic curves of fixed topology to some target space. For some
simple choices of target space, we see some beautiful combinatorics
enter the theory. In this talk, I will give an intuitive introduction
to Gromov-Witten theory, show the interplay between the geometry and
combinatorics, and ask some questions that I would like to know the
answer to.
