Opportunities in Maths and Stats Seminar Series: Modern statistical techniques in biostatistics
by Professor Richard Huggins
Abstract: Many of the more interesting problems in statistics arise in biological
areas. The resolution of these problems often requires modern ideas such
as robustness and nonparametric methods, as well as expertise in
statistical computing. This talk shall examine some problems arising in
areas of statistical genetics and the estimation of animal abundance.
