Opportunities in Maths and Stats Seminar Series: Modern statistical techniques in biostatistics

MUMS Seminar

by Professor Richard Huggins

Institution: Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Melbourne
Date: Fri 12th August 2005
Time: 1:00 PM
Location: Russell Love Theatre, Richard Berry Building

Abstract: Many of the more interesting problems in statistics arise in biological
areas. The resolution of these problems often requires modern ideas such
as robustness and nonparametric methods, as well as expertise in
statistical computing. This talk shall examine some problems arising in
areas of statistical genetics and the estimation of animal abundance.
