Abstract: We study the Alexander module of a knot via its Pontryagin dual. This is
a compact dynamical system with a rich algebraic structure. It has an
elementary combinatorial description in terms of "dynamic" colorings of a
knot diagram. We will discuss the relation between topology of the knot
and dynamics of the dual, and give examples.
