Operator split methods

Abstract: Operator split (OS integration methods are commonly used to develop numerical algorithms for simulating coupled nonlinear reactive transport. OS methods are routinely implemented for both continuum (partial differential equation) and discrete (cellular automata) models of reactive transport. We will discuss practical and theoretical aspects of implementing OS methods as well as addressing certain misunderstandings and conflicting results reported in the literature.
