Geodesic growth

Abstract: In this talk I will define a new type of growth function for infinite groups - the geodesic growth function, and also a related quasigeodesic growth function. I will compute these functions for some examples including hyperbolic groups and the lamplighter group, and prove a few facts about generating set dependence and when they can be different from the standard growth function.
