Abstract: We review the history of the exactly solved model of polymer collapse -
the Interacting Partially Directed Self-Avoiding Walk (IPDSAW or
IPDW). Recently the application of a force applied to the ends of a
polymer has become topical and this model has been generalised to
encompase this situation. The effect of changing the flexiblity of the
polymer has also been considered and here we describe how this
modifies the singularity structure of the associate generating
function of partition functions.
