XXZ scalar products and the KP hierarchy

Abstract: I will discuss the algebraic Bethe Ansatz approach to a well studied quantum
integrable model: the XXZ Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain, with periodic boundary
conditions. A fundamental object in the study of correlation functions in the
XXZ model is the scalar product S_N, between an arbitrary state and a Bethe
eigenstate of the Hamiltonian. I will explain the result of some very
recent work,
which proved that S_N is a tau function of the classical KP hierarchy, up
to a
simple change of variables.
