Abstract: The use of smart algorithms and fast computers has enabled us (by "us" I mean the universe
of people who are interested in such problems) to find closed form expressions in terms of
known functions, or ODE representations of solutions, for problems of extraordinary complexity.
I will review and discuss some of this work, including some truly heroic calculations arising
in the study of the susceptibility of the 2d Ising model.
