Abstract: This curious question is related to a broader question of when a function is uniquely determined by its values on a set of points. This leads us to some classical and modern results in analysis, including Identity theorem, Muentz's theorem and some final observations of Feller. The talk will be largely elementary and self-contained with only a little under graduate analysis and probability assumed.
