Abstract: Can we characterise the Reals by as being a complete, linearly ordered set, whose topology satisfies the c.c.c.? Souslin's Hypothesis about this characterisation, is infact, independent of Z.F.C.. I will show that assuming the Z.F.C+V=L leads to a combinatorial principle, â— , which decides the problem. If I get time, I hope to discuss the independence.
