A spin-1 loop correlator and its relation to the 2-dimensional symplectic Toda lattice

Abstract: I will present some details about work in progress with Bernard Nienhuis and Anita Ponsaing about the exact calculation of a spin-1boundary-boundary loop correlation function in the O(n=1) model.
We are close to proving a conjectured exact expression, but are not quite there yet. Quite surprisingly, the final result is expressed as a derivative of a solution to the 2-dimensional symplectic Toda lattice, and a proof would thus lead to a seemingly new connection between solvable lattice models and classical integrable models.
