Abstract: p-adic modular forms

I discuss the definition of overconvergent p-adic modular forms as infinite
dimensional vector spaces containing the classical modular forms as a
subspace. I will indicate how explicit banach bases can be used to prove
results about the geometry of p-adic families of modular forms, and how this
can be used to deduce classical results.
