Abstract: I will try to give an idea of what it means to categorify something, and why one might want to do this. I will then discuss the example of Soergel bimodules, which provide a categorification of the Hecke algebra of a Coxeter group. Lastly, I will discuss some recent progress on presenting Soergel bimodules via generators and relations (this work is joint with Ben Elias).
