### Comparative Risk Assessment: what is it and how can it be useful*Statistics Seminar*About Steve: Steve became involved with the Comparative Risk Assessment (CRA) project in 2000 when he joined a team of researchers led by the World Health Organisation and Harvard School of Public Health. Initially, he was one of the statisticians working within the core development group of the CRA project and later contributed as an advisor on statistical questions arising across different areas of the Global Burden of Disease project. Otherwise, Steve has worked mainly within the biotechnology industry and in other areas involving clinical trials. He recently moved to Melbourne and now works as a statistical consultant at the Statistical Consulting Centre.#### by Steve vander Hoorn*Institution:* Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne
