Alex Ghitza

I am a senior lecturer in Pure Mathematics at the University of Melbourne, in Australia.

My research is in arithmetic algebraic geometry, an area at the intersection of number theory and algebraic geometry. I am also interested in computational aspects of number theory, algebraic geometry, representation theory, and other algebraic topics.

I organise a weekly working Number Theory Seminar.

Michael Coons, Timothy Trudgian and I are organising a Number Theory session at the 8th Australia New Zealand Mathematics Convention.

Free and open source software

I am an avid user of open source software. I try to contribute as often as I can, mostly to the mathematical software Sage.
