Title: Fibre bundles with reductive structure group over an algebraic variety

Abstract: In 1957, Grothendieck classified fibre bundles with reductive structure group over the Riemann sphere. We show how Grothendieck's classification is a particular case of a more general result valid for any complete variety over an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero. As an application we obtain, using Atiyah's results on vector bundles, a classification of fibre bundles with reductive structure group over an elliptic curve.
