# My Curriculum Vitae

My name is Iwan Jensen and I was born on 13 August 1963in the town of Aalborg, Denmark.

I am married to Theresa Ann Jensen. We have no children.

## Education

I graduated from the University of Århus, Denmark in September 1989 with a Bachelor degree in Mathematics and a Masters degree in Physics specialising in Statistical Mechanics.

From Feb. 1990 to Feb. 1993 I held a scholarship from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Århus, Denmark. During this period I pursued studies in Statistical Physics under the supervision of Prof. Hans C.

Fogedby. The first six months were spent at the Institute of Physics in Århus. I was affiliated with the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Lehman College, City University of New York, from August 1990, where I collaborated with Prof. Ronald Dickman on the study of nonequilibrium phase transition.

In February 1993 I received my Ph.D. degree in Mathematical Physics from the Institute of Physics, University of Århus, Denmark. The title of my thesis was "Computer Simulations and Analytical Studies of Nonequilibrium Phase Transitions in Interacting Particle Systems with Absorbing States".

## Career History

Feb. 1990 - Feb. 1993: Research scholarship from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Århus University, Denmark. During this period I received additional funding from the Danish Research Academy.

May 1993 - Dec. 1998: Employed on two consecutive Research Fellowships working with Prof. A. J. Guttmann in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

Jan 1999 - Dec 2003: Australian Research Fellowship (ARC) in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne, Australia.

Jan 2004 - Dec 2007: Research Fellow in the ARC Centre of Excellence for Mathematics and Statistics of Complex Systems (MASCOS).

Jul 2004: I was awarded the designation AMSI-MASCOS Fellow. This was a joint research appointment between the Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute (AMSI) and MASCOS. To quote the letter of appointment: ``Such appointments are reserved for outstanding people.''

Jul 2005: I was promoted to Senior Research Fellow.

Jan 2007 - Present: ARC Research Fellowship 50/50 with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne.

## Research Grant History

My research has been supported by an ARC Australian Research Fellowship: ``Exact numerical studies of lattice models in statistical mechanics'', F69930016, from Jan. 1999 to Jan. 2004.

In collaboration with A. J. Guttmann, A. L. Owczarek and R. Brak, we won a 5 year ARC Discovery Project grant: "Advanced computation and analytic studies in lattice statistical mechanics and applications'', DP0208244, commencing in 2002. This grant was surrendered in 2003 as part of the funding agreement for MASCOS.

In collaboration with A. L. Owczarek and A. Rechnitzer, we won a 5 year ARC Discovery Project grant "Searching for solvability in statistical mechanics and beyond using advanced enumerative combinatorics'', DP0770705 commencing in 2007. As part of this successful application I have been awarded an ARF 50% funded by the ARC and 50% by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne.

I make intensive use of the APAC (Australian Partnership for Advanced Computing) computing facilities. In recognition of the importance and excellence of my research APAC has, under the Merit Allocation Scheme, over the years since 2002 granted me one of their largest individual allocations. My current allocation is 50000 CPU hours per quarter.

I also received a 2000 ARC small grant and 2001 and 2003 Melbourne Research Development Grants.
