My background can be summed up by the emblems above: The charming coat of arms with a camel belongs to my native town of Pilsen in Czech Republic (the home of the one and only Pilsener beer "Prazdroj"), the round logo is the seal of Charles University in Prague (1348) where I received my Mgr (Magistr) degree, and the familiar University of Melbourne crest signifies the institution where I earned my PhD, and which has been my academic homeground for over 30 years.
