Double-knit Topologist's Hat

A double-knit hat. Designed in conjunction with my friend Loretta (I wasn't going to knit a hat she wouldn't wear), this is the first beanie I've ever produced. I object to beanies in general since they: a) give you hat-hair; and b) usually look a bit ugly. Anyway, the pattern Lo wanted was a little impractical to knit in any other method besides double-knitting, but I still had to work out how to double-knit in the round (it's originally a flat technique). Also, charting the pattern required a paper model to get the arcs to curve over the (non-flat) surface correctly.

Knit in 8-ply wool on a pair of 4mm circular needles, it only took one weekend (about 8 hours) to complete, excluding the pattern design.
