Research opportunities

I have projects for prospective honours students and PhD students. This would be in any of the areas of gauge theory, moduli space of Riemann surfaces, minimal surfaces, applications of algebraic geometry to integrable systems and various mathematical physics related problems.
I currently supervise two PhD students.
Norman Do works on the moduli space of hyperbolic surfaces, known also as the moduli space of curves or Riemann surfaces. His research involves hyperbolic geometry, algebraic geometry and ideas from mathematical physics.
Thomas Handscomb works on surface bundles. His research focuses on ideas of Morita who introduced characteristic classes of surface bundles. This is related to the moduli space of Riemann surfaces.
