There will be three assignments, each worth 5%.
- Assignment 1: Due Monday, 30th March. Do not forget to hand in a plagiarism declaration form as well!
Assignment 1 is now marked -- solutions are here. Some statistics for your (or my!) amusement:
- 44 assignments were handed in. I know of 46 active students, so this is a terrific response rate. Keep it up!
- The mean mark was 16.2 out of 18.
- The median mark was 17.
- The mode mark was 18! 16 people got full marks. Well done!
- Assignment 2: Due Monday, 4th May.
Assignment 2 is now marked -- solutions are here. Continuing the statistical analysis:
- 44 assignments were handed in again - an even better response rate considering we are getting busier now. Well done!
- The mean mark was 17.8 out of 22.
- The median mark was 19.
- The mode mark was 20.
- 5 students got full marks. All of these students also gained full marks in the first assignment and so are still in the running for the `grand slam' (as I call it!).
- Assignment 3: Due Monday, 25th May.
Assignment 3 is now marked -- solutions are here.
- Again, 44 assignments came in - not all of them on time!
- The mean mark was 20.4 out of 24. This is a better percentage than assignment 2!
- The median mark was 20.5.
- The mode mark was 20.
- 4 students got full marks. Of these, 2 achieved the 'grand slam' of full marks in all assignments. You know who you are - well done!
The assignments and solutions will go up on this page when they are available.
You must fill in a plagiarism declaration sheet and hand it in with assignment 1. However, you only need to fill it in once, so don't fill in another one for the other assignments if you have already handed in one. You can find the plagiarism sheet here.
