In recent years there has been a growing realisation that many problems in Statistical Mechanics not only have a combinatorial interpretation, but that the techniques of combinatorics can illuminate many such problems.
Equally, the techniques of Statistical Mechanics have provided a new and rich source of results in several areas of combinatorics.
In recognition of this fruitful liaison, a special issue of Annals of Combinatorics devoted to the theme of Statistical Mechanics and Combinatorics is to be published.
The editor of this special issue is Prof. Anthony Guttmann, of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, The University of Melbourne, Parkville, Victoria 3052, Australia.
Submissions are invited to this issue. Manuscripts should be prepared in Tex or Latex, with figures in postscript files. Papers are normally up to 15 pages in length.
Our target is to receive all manuscripts by Nov. 1 1998, and have refereeing completed by the end of 1998, with publishing taking place early in 1999.
Please address all submissions, and any queries, to the editor at: tonyg@ms.unimelb.edu.au
